BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE: SECTION 1. That Chattanooga City Code, Part II, Chapter 25, Section 25-82 be and is hereby deleted in its entirety and the following substituted in lieu thereof: Sec. 25-82. Gambling -- Confiscation, destruction of devices. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to play at any game of hazard or address for money or other valuable thing, or make any bet or wager for money or other valuable things (or to risk anything of value for a profit in return, is to any degree contingent on chance) where such person risks or stands to gain money or property of less than five hundred dollars ($500.00) in value. (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to own, possess or distribute any gambling device. It shall be unlawful for any person to promote gambling or derive any pecuniary benefits other than personal winnings from gambling where the sum or value is less than five hundred dollars ($500.00). (c) Police officers shall seize all slot machines, tip boards, punchboards, high score boards, tables, paraphernalia and all other devices used for gambling or gaming, and the chief of police shall confiscate and destroy such devices as directed by any court of competent jurisdiction. 0C SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall be effective two (2) weeks from and after its passage as provided by law.
